Practice /01 · The Specialty

Conveyancing & property law.

Conveyancing is the legal work that moves ownership of immovable property from one name to another. It is what Snyman de Jager has specialised in since 1938 — and why banks, agents and families across Gauteng put our name on their biggest transaction.

How A Transfer Works

Three attorneys, one transfer.

In a typical sale brought about by an estate agent, three conveyancing attorneys are involved. Knowing who does what — and who appoints whom — is half the calm.

Transferring Attorneys

Transfer the property from the seller to the buyer. They represent the seller, and are appointed by the seller.

Bond Attorneys

Register the bond over the property in favour of the bank financing the purchase. They represent the buyer and the bank granting the home loan.

Cancellation Attorneys

Cancel the seller's existing home loan on the property. They represent the bank cancelling the seller's bond.

No Surprises

Know your costs before you sign.

Once your bond is granted, you will pay costs to register the bond and costs to transfer the property. The firm publishes both — a live calculator and the full bond-and-transfer cost list.
